Daughter of the East- No more

The emasculated democracy has received another blow, a blow that time may prove to be fatal for that state & for the fledgling democracy that was. Barely weeks after emergency was lifted and only a few days before the erstwhile army-governed state was slated to go polls to determine the choice of leaders, one of the most prominet leaders of that country, rather of the entire Indian Sub continent has been shot dead....

As news develops, perhaps we'll come to know who the killers were... But the biggest loss is of the people of that nation. they've lost one of the most charismatic leader ever produced, one that always represented the light of democracy and fight against injustice in a state governed by the 3As- Allah, Army & America....

One of the very few leaders who did not hail from the Punjab, she resisted the temptation to work against the interests of the country , by opposing the regionalism & sectarianism that plagues those lands....Had she chosen to, perhaps, she would have alerady become the Empress of an independent Sindh...

Deeply influenced by her father, who was hanged to death by Gen. Zia ul Haq, for political differences, she stood for morals & principles in an essentially lawless society...Being the prime minister of a an orthodox muslim nation is indeed no mean feat...

One may point fingers at her style of politics, her swiss bank account etc. But there is no denying that What she was to pakistan, perhaps no one will ever be...

Mrs. Bhutto, may peace be upon you!
